![]() ![]() ![]() The guidelines in germany are quite annoying in concern to this, but I think I can pull it off. I am working with the T?V to get the GVWR to 3100KG (~6800lbs) by using addidional air bags in the back and the max towing capacity up to 3500KG (~7700lbs) by swapping the big suburban rear brakes. Mostly the truck is used on countryroads, so speeds between 30 and 70 mph, some light offroad, mostly farm tracks (for that i think about swapping in a select-a-lock, but it was not necessary yet).īut from time to time I use it to drive longer stretches over the Autobahn at speeds between 80 and 140mph (intended, atm the driveshaft starts vibrating at 115 mph). I am living in the german countryside and do quite some hauling with the truck, be it getting firewood or building material to carrying away rubble from our home rebuild. Here is my setup, I attach the tune file, maybe it helps others. In stock tune, the AFRs are way too rich, maybe to be safe, that may lead to the injectors being too small. The stock truck injectors seem to be fine, I dialed the ARF in at 12,5 while at powerenrich and made a WOT Pull 1st and 2nd gear, the AFR stayed at around 12.5 the whole time. I opened the throttleblade a bit in idle, to get the IAC to be happy. I got the engine to idle at about he LS6 RPMs, so 725 when warm in gear 800 warm in park. The LS6 tune did help alot, so thanks for that. ![]() then you will have more options, more control and a better set up.It took some time, because I had to do it between other things, as time allows. MS = 2 months of swearing and regretting your choice until you learn what you are doing. The documentation is great but as far as other support goes your mostly on your own unless you can find someone with a simular set up that might be able to help you. HPT has great support, where as with the MS you are pretty much on your own. stuff like that takes alot of time to get just right. it's things like gettign a nice idle, start up enrichments, accel/decel enrichments. It is complicated though, tuning can be hard also. It also can run low imp injecotrs which is a huge must for me. I personally love the MS and it has some killer features that my new build revolves around. No offense but if you don't know this, then the MS will be over your head. Basically, if you use Megasquirt, you are building your own tune from scratch, you will have problems along the line, and you will pretty much need to fix them on your own, but it is a great tuning solution for the J-Bodies.ĪLcOhOLjC wrote:so why not use the 2.4 s/c reflash instead of the ecotec reflash? If I was you, I would go with HPT and save you some of the trouble. You can remove all limiters, adjust pretty much anything, but there are limits, and dont be mad at HPT, GM is to blame. Unless you have the gm supercharger reflash, you will have a hell of a time trying to get a tune on a boosted motor with Alpha-N (there is a reason why no stock boosted cars use Alpha-N to tune with), but I am not here to take anything away from it. You can only tune up to 7000rpm I am pretty sure. Pretty much anything on the stock ECU, you can control, but you have your limits. All your factory connectors are labelled, crimped and terminated at exactly the right length while the ECU end plugs directly into a Haltech Elite ECU. HPT is very nice for the people that want to plug in a controller and do some tuning. When it comes to LS tuning, Haltech has got you covered Doing an LS swap has never been easier with Haltech’s terminated engine harness kit. Also, you can choose the RPM range you want to tune with, and you can control basically as much of your engine and car as you want to. You can control any kind of fuel tune you want, whether it is N/A or up to 42 lbs of boost with their new 4bar map, and you can choose whether you want to use Alpha-N or Speed Density. With the relay board and wiring harnesses, they have made it very easy to install on pretty much any car. A few sensors to wire up along with your injectors, some grounds and 12V. All of the trouble? It isnt really much trouble at all. ![]()
